With the new version of the ISO standard 17442 that has been revised in April 2019 the LEI duty has been extended to individuals acting in a business capacity, such as self-employed natural persons acting in a business capacity as well as freelancers.
The EU specifies in MiFID II that the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) shall be used to uniquely identify the counterparties involved in a trade.
