Transitional period for the LEI Application (Notification in Accordance to Article 26 MiFID II)

01/03/2018: On the 3rd of January 2018, Security Service Providers are obliged, for services that prompts a compulsary registration and to this effect, to check whether the customer can present a valid LEI.
The European Supervisory Authority ESMA is setting this obligation for the time being and offers a transitional arrangement by 30 June 2018.

The prerequisite for this, is that the Security Service Providers (mostly banks or savings banks) shall receive the necessary documents from their customers beforehand.
Along with the completed power of attorney in accordance to Article 26(PDF 54.3 kB), the Security Service Provider may request the LEI at the accredited contracting authority.
